Is Budweiser news real or fake?

Well the good news is that the news is not real. So, all the drinkers of Budweiser can relax. This news was actually first published by the Foolish Humor which as the name suggests is a page to spread humor with no reality associated with the news whatsoever. The article they published was nothing but a satire which claimed that even Budweiser has acknowledged the fact that their employees have been peeing in Budweiser’s beer can for 12 years now.

The article even added that one of the employees told them that, “First time I made water inside the tanks was after working for 2 year, once I moved up and earned the trust of my superiors. I was thinking about nothing, just the WC was too far away, and I was too lazy to go. I won’t do it again, from now on you all can feel the authentic Budweiser taste.”  But all those who read it on that page were very well aware that the news was not real and just satirical.

How did it get to Twitter?

The news published by the Foolish Humor did not reach India till a Hyderabad based newspaper, The Hans India, published an article. The article is titled, ‘You will stop drinking beer after reading this’. In addition, the news article clearly states that Budweiser employees peed in their beer cans for 12 years now and presented the news as totally ‘true’. Indians, who are apparently very much active on Twitter posted the news article and the hashtags related to Budweiser soon trended. And more than the article, memes were shared regarding the same. Because why not?  The article quoted that, “Is like a Russian Roulette sometimes when I am with my friends and they ask for Budweiser, I blush and say to myself, poor guys.”

Who got worried the most?

The news surely gave a mini heart attack to the people who drink Budweiser. However, since the Brewery is in the United States and not in India many thought that they weren’t the victims. But the news article even stated that the Brewery in question supplies 75% of the total beer supplied by Budweiser. And to add the cherry on top, the article also mentioned that ‘You probably have already drank Walter’s piss’.

Budweiser news Conclusion

The spread of fake news is nothing new these days. Also, people often forward fake news without checking actual facts. However this time a news portal itself fell into the trap of fake news. The Foolish Humor portal clearly mentioned in its Disclaimer that “This website is a humorous page whose sole purpose in entertainment. The content of Foolish Humor is fiction and does not correspond to reality.” But apparently the Indian news portal which spread this news as real news missed to read the disclaimer and the chaos occurred.
